Iran executed two individuals accused of being involved in an attack on a Shia shrine that resulted in the deaths of at least 13 people in October, according to reports from Fars news agency and the Iranian Students News Agency on Saturday. The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack. The semi-official sources confirmed that "the two men were hanged in the city of Shiraz, in the south of the country." During their trial, the men admitted to having connections with ISIS in neighboring Afghanistan and assisted in planning the attack on the Shah Cheragh shrine in Shiraz. The assailant, identified as a citizen of Tajikistan, later died in the hospital due to injuries sustained during the attack. Officials initially reported a death toll of 15 from the attack, which was later revised to 13.
