The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, met in Mecca with the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance in Saudi Arabia, Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al Sheikh. They discussed religious matters, focusing on "unifying the words of Muslims and enhancing the noble image and values of Islam." Emphasis was placed on "cooperation and joint coordination between the Fatwa House and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call, and Guidance." Mufti Deryan praised "the Saudi role in Arab and Islamic issues, stemming from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's commitment to the safety, stability, and security of every Arab and Islamic country." Mufti Deryan also performed the rituals of Umrah, praying to God Almighty to "protect Lebanon and its people from both manifest and hidden discord, and to establish security, safety, and stability in Lebanon and all Arab and Islamic countries," as reported by the media office of the Fatwa House.
