Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Russian military group "Wagner," announced in a video recording today, Thursday, that "the group has begun withdrawing from the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut and is handing over its positions there to regular Russian forces." He stated, "We are withdrawing units from Bakhmut, starting from five in the morning on May 25 until June 1. Most units will reposition in rear camps; we are handing over our positions to the army." The video was published by Prigozhin's media office via "Telegram," showing him in military attire standing next to a war-damaged residential building.
Prigozhin declared last Saturday the seizure of Bakhmut after the longest and bloodiest battles of the war.
