The General Directorate of General Security has renewed its assurance that "it has enough passports to meet all requests both domestically and abroad," and urges "citizens who do not have an immediate need to apply for a passport to make way for those who do." It emphasizes the right of every Lebanese citizen to possess a passport.
In a statement, the directorate highlighted the following facts:
1. The daily printing capacity is three thousand passports, while the number of citizens coming daily to security centers exceeds five thousand.
2. It has been found that around 80% of completed passports have not yet been used, indicating that the reasons for rushing to obtain a passport are unjustified, especially with sufficient quantities available, and therefore, it is unnecessary to heed rumors circulated from time to time.
The statement added: "Based on these facts, while the directorate takes responsibility for securing citizens' rights and facilitating their procedures, it requests their cooperation in sharing this responsibility, particularly regarding the avoidance of rushing to the centers to obtain passports, except for those who urgently need them."
It concluded: "The General Directorate of General Security will remain committed to ensuring the required service for citizens and providing it by all legal means, as this is part of its work and duties, and will take all necessary measures to fulfill citizens' requests and rights."
