Lebanon's caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib, conducted a series of diplomatic meetings. He discussed bilateral relations successively with the Swiss Ambassador to Lebanon, Marion Weichsler, and the Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Qian Minjian, as well as the upcoming renewal of the International Emergency Forces (UNIFIL) operations in southern Lebanon. Notably, Minister Bou Habib plans to send a message to the Security Council requesting the renewal of UNIFIL's mandate for another year until the end of 2024.
Bou Habib also met with Scott Turner, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration, to discuss the implications of the Syrian displacement on Lebanese society and its economy. Turner emphasized his country's support for Lebanon’s efforts in hosting Syrian refugees.
Additionally, Minister Bou Habib met with the Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Barış Ulusoy, where they discussed the work of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), which is assisting the Lebanese Foreign Ministry in restoring and rehabilitating the building of the Ministry in Riad El Solh.
