Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi will hold talks today, Sunday, in Cairo with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida regarding regional and international security. The spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, announced that the Egyptian-Japanese discussions will address ways to enhance the "distinguished" bilateral relations between the two countries and discuss the state of peace and security at both international and regional levels. The Kyodo news agency reported that Japanese government officials indicated the Prime Minister may discuss the ongoing conflict in Sudan and the rising prices of energy and food amid the backdrop of the Ukrainian war. Kyodo noted that Kishida's African tour, the first since he took office in October 2021, is part of efforts to strengthen relations with developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Kishida arrived in Egypt on Saturday night, kicking off a tour that includes four African countries and Singapore.
