The European Union expressed its concern today, Monday, regarding the military drills conducted by China around Taiwan. The EU stated that the status of the island should not be changed by force and that any escalation, incident, or use of force there would have profound global repercussions.
Nabila Massrali, spokesperson for the EU Commission for Foreign Affairs, noted, "We are concerned about the intensification of military activities by the People's Liberation Army in the Taiwan Strait and around Taiwan, including incursions into Taiwan's air defense identification zone and crossing the median line."
She emphasized, "The status quo should not be changed unilaterally or by force," stressing the "necessity for restraint."
