The football club "Real Madrid" announced on Sunday the departure of French striker Karim Benzema at the end of the season after mutually terminating his contract, following 14 seasons filled with titles. The club stated in a release: "Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have reached an agreement to end his brilliant and unforgettable period as a player in our club." It added: "Benzema's career at Real Madrid has been an example of conduct and professionalism, representing the values of our club, and he deserves the right to decide his future."
