The French special envoy to Lebanon, Jean-Yves Le Drian, will visit Beirut on Monday in a renewed attempt to resolve the ongoing political crisis in the country that has lasted for ten months. Close associates of Le Drian told AFP that the former foreign minister "will be in Lebanon on Monday," without providing further details about his schedule. Le Drian had suggested that all Lebanese political actors meet in September to reach a "consensus" that would allow for the end of the presidential vacancy that has persisted for about a year.
