Jean Gibran, the general director of "Water of Beirut and Mount Lebanon," confirmed that the institution "is striving to restore water supply to the capital, but 4 hours of electricity daily are insufficient to deliver water. Donor agencies have halted maintenance at the wells, and there are 3 wells that are out of service." He added, "System updates have not occurred, and we are still charging in Lebanese pounds while the cost of maintenance and purchasing diesel is in dollars."
