Japanese Foreign Minister to Attend Cairo Summit on Middle East Conflict

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa indicated today, Friday, that she "will visit Egypt to attend an international conference tomorrow, Saturday, which will discuss ways to address the humanitarian and security issues arising from the conflict between Israel and Hamas." Kamikawa stated at a press conference: "I intend to visit Egypt to participate in the Cairo Peace Summit, hosted by the Egyptian government to discuss the situation regarding Israel and Palestine." She added: "I plan to contribute to the discussion aimed at improving humanitarian conditions in Gaza, which is an urgent issue, as well as ensuring the safety of ordinary citizens and quickly calming the situation." Japan is currently holding the rotating presidency of the Group of Seven this year.
