UN Human Rights Commissioner Warns of Atrocities in Gaza

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, warned on Wednesday that there is a significant risk of atrocities being committed in Gaza and urged both sides to refrain from such violations. He added to reporters in Geneva, "My human rights colleagues describe the situation as catastrophic. Under these circumstances, there is a great risk of brutal acts occurring." He continued, "There is an urgent need for action from both parties involved and all countries, especially those with influence, to prevent the commission of such crimes."
