Ugandan Kiplangat Wins Marathon at World Athletics Championships

Ugandan Victor Kiplangat won the marathon at the World Athletics Championships today, Sunday, with a time of 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 53 seconds, finishing ahead of Israeli Maru Teferi, who took the silver despite stumbling. Kiplangat, the gold medalist from the 2022 Commonwealth Games, led the race four kilometers before the finish line, which he crossed with a 19-second lead over his closest competitor. Teferi, the silver medalist from last year's European Championships, recovered after falling in the final stages of the race and outpaced Ethiopian Liyu Gebreselassie in the last 200 meters to secure the silver, while the Ethiopian runner settled for bronze.
