The Attorney General of Cassation, Judge Ghassan Ouaidat, issued a decision requesting "not to accept any decision, mandate, notification, delegation, letter, referral, communication memo, or any document of any kind issued by the investigative judge in the Beirut Port explosion case, Judge Tarek Baitar, as he is incapacitated and lacks jurisdiction."
The text of the decision states that:
1. The President and employees of the Cassation Attorney General's office are requested not to accept any decision, mandate, notification, delegation, letter, referral, communication memo, or any document of any kind issued by the investigative judge in the Beirut Port explosion case, Judge Tarek Baitar, whether it comes directly from him or through any other authority, as he is incapacitated in this case and lacks jurisdiction. The Central Criminal Investigations Department should be informed of this as well.
2. The Central Criminal Investigations Department is tasked with monitoring what is mentioned above in case it reaches us and to organize a record of it according to procedures and inform us to take the necessary legal measures.
3. Notify the relevant parties.
Judge Ouaidat also submitted a copy of the file related to the indictment issued by him under number 9/ أساس/2023 dated January 25, 2023, against the investigative judge, Judge Tarek Baitar. Ouaildat requested to review the file and "take appropriate action."
