German Prosecutors Raid Home of Kremlin-Supporting Activists

German prosecutors announced on Monday that they searched the home of two Kremlin-supporting activists suspected of violating a law regulating the manufacture and transfer of war weapons. The activists, Max Schlund and his partner Elena Kolbasnikova, organized multiple protests against Germany's support for Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion last year. Cologne public prosecutor Ulrich Filon confirmed the raid on suspicion of violating the War Weapons Control Act, but denied that it was linked to assistance provided to Donbas in Eastern Ukraine. He refrained from further comments on the investigation. German law regulating the control of war weapons governs the manufacture, sale, and transfer of weapons ranging from hand grenades and automatic rifles to fighter jets. Schlund and Kolbasnikova could not be reached for comment.
