The Egyptian president stressed that "the state is making strenuous efforts and incurring heavy costs to maintain stability amid the escalating conflicts in neighboring countries," announcing an "increase in the exceptional cost-of-living allowance to become 600 instead of 300 pounds." He added, "Egypt has been going through difficult circumstances for four years," noting that it "imported 10 million tons of wheat."
