Firefighters in Turkey battled a wildfire near the coastal town of Kemer in the southern Antalya province on Tuesday, confronting the blaze from both land and air amid rising temperatures across the region. The Antalya governor’s office, Arsın Yazıcı, stated that “the fire spread rapidly through the forests in the area due to strong winds and low humidity.” He added, “local authorities have taken all necessary measures to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas.” Local authorities noted that “a hospital in Kemer was evacuated as a precaution, and six people were transferred to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.” For his part, Minister of Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy emphasized that “ten planes, 22 helicopters, and more than 200 vehicles have been deployed in firefighting efforts, with the flames having consumed around 120 hectares of forest land in the Kemer area.”
