A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck the Iranian city of Mirand, according to reports from the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD). The earthquake occurred at 17:43 local time near the Turkish border. Preliminary data indicated that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Mirand, Iran, at a depth of approximately 7 kilometers below the surface. While seismic activity is common in the region, the Turkish authority confirmed that the strength and depth of the earthquake may have contributed to it being felt more strongly in nearby areas.
