Bayern Munich will kick off their defense of the Bundesliga title with an away match against Werder Bremen when the tournament starts on August 18. This will be the 113th league encounter between the two teams, the highest number of matches played between two teams since the Bundesliga was established 60 years ago.
Bayern secured their 11th consecutive title on goal difference over Borussia Dortmund after defeating Cologne in the last round of the previous season, while their rival settled for a 2-2 draw with Mainz.
Dortmund begins their quest for their first league title since 2012, when they were led by current Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp, by hosting Cologne.
The new season will kick off on August 11 with the first round of the German Cup, followed by a local Super Cup match where Bayern will face Leipzig three days later.
