Micron Products Undergo Chinese Inspection

The Chinese Cyber Administration announced that it will conduct an inspection of products from the American company Micron Technology, known for manufacturing memory chips, in anticipation of potential security risks. This step is intended to protect the security of the supply chain for critical information infrastructure, prevent hidden risks, and safeguard national security. The United States had previously imposed a series of export controls on chip manufacturing technology to China due to concerns that it could be used to produce chips for applications like artificial intelligence, which could be utilized by the Chinese military. Several of China’s largest chip companies, including Yangtze Memory Technologies, which competes with Micron, have been blacklisted. Sanctions have also been placed on the Chinese giant Huawei.
