Lebanon's Deaf Basketball Team Heads to World Championship in Greece

The Lebanon national deaf basketball team departed today, Tuesday, for Greece to participate in the World Championship taking place on the island of "Crete" from June 14 to 24. Sixteen countries from around the world are participating in the tournament. It is noteworthy that the Lebanese national team is the only Arab team participating in the global competition.

Despite all the challenges faced by the national team, both financially and morally, their determination and will to participate have been greater than all obstacles. Several key players will be absent due to injury and inability to travel, but the essence lies in their participation in the international event.

Lebanon has been drawn into a group with Lithuania, Spain, and Argentina. The delegation includes:

- Alan Martinos: Administrator

- Sarkis Kourjian: Team Coach

- Jean Marie Hanna: Physiotherapist

- Anthony Majdalani: Media Officer

- The players are: Tony Deraani, Bacchus Barkis, Charbel Abi Saad, Adam Khazal, Marc Constantine, Yahya Diab, Joe Rishmani, Elio Attieh, Nidal Saloom, Antonio Aboud, Mario Qseifi, and Wissam Jaajaa.

It is worth mentioning that the Lebanese team will play its first match in the World Championship on Tuesday against the reigning champion Lithuania at 5:00 PM Beirut local time. The match will be broadcast live on the "Sports Mania" Facebook page.
