The construction of a vessel, expected to be the largest cruise ship in the world, has been completed at a shipyard in Finland, and it recently underwent its first open-water test ahead of a potential delivery in October, according to CNN. The "Icon of the Seas," operated by Royal Caribbean International, measures 365 meters in length and is expected to weigh 250,800 tons.
When it sets sail in the Caribbean Sea next January, the ship will accommodate approximately 6,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members. It will feature the world's largest water park at sea. The ship promises more than 40 dining, drinking, and entertainment experiences. The concept behind the ship aims to cater to the desires of all individuals onboard, with designated areas for families as well as spaces reserved exclusively for adults.
There will be 28 different types of accommodations available, providing more options for families and larger spaces for group travelers. The vessel is also the first ship in the Royal Caribbean International fleet powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel cell technology, as part of the company's effort to transition to cleaner energy in the future.
