Russia Deploys Missile with Hypersonic Vehicle

A television channel affiliated with the Russian Ministry of Defense reported today, Thursday, that "the missile forces have deployed an intercontinental ballistic missile equipped with the hypersonic vehicle 'Avangard', which has nuclear capabilities, in a launch silo in southern Russia." The Avangard detaches from the missile as it approaches its target and has a high maneuverability outside its trajectory at speeds exceeding the speed of sound, reaching up to 27 times (34,000 kilometers per hour). The Zvezda television channel, owned by the Russian Ministry of Defense, broadcast the transfer of the ballistic missile to the launch silo in the Orenburg region near Kazakhstan.
