The "Saudi Space Authority" announced the final preparations have been completed for Saudi astronauts Rayyanah Barnawi and Ali Al-Qarni to head into space tomorrow, Sunday. The authority tweeted: "Final preparations for the Saudi astronauts have been completed, as part of the scientific mission crew, before heading to space tomorrow, Sunday." It added: "These experiments will contribute to providing answers that will enable humanity, through the expansion of health research, as well as protecting planet Earth by implementing scientific experiments, some of which will be conducted for the first time in the world aboard the station."
It is worth noting that Rayyanah Barnawi is the first female Saudi and Muslim astronaut, while Ali Al-Qarni is also the first Saudi astronaut. They will journey to the International Space Station in a scientific mission that represents a historic event for Saudi Arabia and inaugurates a new phase for the Kingdom in the field of space. The Saudi Space Authority previously stated that "this mission is part of the Kingdom's program for astronauts and includes conducting 14 pioneering scientific research experiments in a microgravity environment."
