A military helicopter from the Lebanese Army intervened to assist Civil Defense personnel in extinguishing a fire that broke out in the forests of the towns of Debié and Baasour. The fire spread significantly and approached some houses. Since 12:30 PM on September 29, 2023, Civil Defense elements, reinforced with equipment and personnel and supported by a helicopter from the Air Force, have been working continuously to extinguish the fire that ignited in one of the forests in Debié - Chouf.
The flames reached the vicinity of the Arab University of Beirut complex in Debié, prompting its administration to mobilize and communicate with the relevant authorities to extinguish the fire. The university requested its staff to assist the Civil Defense and the Army by supplying water from the university grounds to the artificial pond that the Debié municipality brought to the university. The pond was supplied with water to enable the Army helicopter to transport water to the fire site.
