Postponement of Daylight Saving Time Implementation

The Secretary-General of the Cabinet, Mahmoud Makiyeh, announced the postponement of the application of the Cabinet's decision regarding the adjustment of the local time, which involves moving the clock forward by one hour starting from midnight April 20-21, 2023, marking the start of this year’s daylight saving time exceptionally.

A video circulating on social media shows that the Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, requested the caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, to delay the start of daylight saving time until after the month of Ramadan, saying: "From now until the end of Ramadan, my dear, don't rush it." Mikati responded that he "proposed such an idea but it was rejected on the grounds that it would create problems and affect air travel."

Meanwhile, the leader of the "Free Patriotic Movement," MP Gebran Bassil, indicated in a tweet on "Twitter" that "the issue of the clock cannot be overlooked as it carries significant meanings... It is not permissible to remain silent until considering challenging or disobeying it."
