Victim and 7 Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident in Colorado

A person was killed and seven others were injured after a driver of an SUV ran over a crowd outside a restaurant in Golden, Colorado, early Sunday morning, authorities reported. The local police chief’s office stated that when officers arrived at the restaurant, one of the victims was unconscious and was later pronounced dead at the scene. Four people who sustained serious injuries were transported to a local hospital, while three others suffered minor injuries and were interviewed by officers and investigators at the scene.

Eyewitnesses reported a fight occurring outside the restaurant prior to the incident involving a man named Ruben Marquez (29) and some of the victims. After restaurant staff intervened to separate the parties, Marquez took his vehicle from a parking garage in front of the restaurant and deliberately drove toward the victims, hitting at least eight people, including restaurant workers, according to the office.

The suspect’s vehicle was later spotted in the area. With the help of one of the patrols, the vehicle was stopped, and Marquez along with two other passengers were detained.
