According to Interfax news agency, a fire broke out at a fuel station in the Dagestan region of southern Russia, resulting in the deaths of 30 people, including three children. Officials stated that the fire began in a car repair workshop in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, late Monday, causing an explosion that spread to the nearby fuel station. Footage circulated online showed a one-story building engulfed in flames. One witness described the situation as "like a war here."
Russian media reported that Deputy Health Minister Vladimir Vizhenko said the number of injured has risen to 66, with ten in critical condition. Interfax reported from the Dagestani health ministry that 13 of the injured are children. TASS cited a statement from the Russian emergency service, saying that firefighters took more than three and a half hours to extinguish the blaze, which covered an area of 600 square meters.
