The spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Stéphane Dujarric, announced that 11 staff members of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Saturday. He stated that "30 students in schools run by this agency have also been killed and eight others injured." UNRWA is seeking to raise $104 million for life-saving assistance in the Gaza Strip, which is facing retaliatory Israeli bombardment following attacks by Hamas on Israel. UNRWA said in a statement, "We urgently seek $104 million to enable our multi-sector humanitarian response over the next 90 days." The requested funds will cover urgent food and non-food needs, health, shelter, and protection for up to 250,000 people seeking safety in UNRWA shelters across the devastated Gaza Strip, in addition to another 250,000 Palestinian refugees within the local community.
