UAE Launches Experimental Satellite

The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre announced today, Tuesday, the successful launch of the experimental satellite "Fay" as part of the initiative to host the "Fay" satellite payload. This achievement is a new addition to the UAE’s journey in the field of space exploration.

"We launched today the experimental satellite 'Fay' into orbit... Congratulations to my colleagues in the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre for this success, and to our partners at OQ Technology who are sending a communication system for testing the Internet of Things, and to our partners SteamJet who will test an environmentally friendly propulsion system in space," said Salem AlMarri.

The "Fay" satellite was launched aboard a Soyuz 2 rocket from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia and features all of its mechanical parts manufactured locally in collaboration with the private sector. The satellite will be positioned in its designated orbit at an altitude of approximately 550 kilometers, and it will be managed from the mission control room at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre and the laboratories of the American University in Ras Al Khaimah.
