Firefighting teams in France continued on Friday to extinguish the remaining fires from a blaze that broke out in grain silos at the La Rochelle port on the Atlantic coast. However, the company operating the silos anticipated that this would only cause minor disruptions to shipping activity at one of the largest grain export ports in the country. A spokesperson for the local authorities indicated that "emergency services are continuing their efforts today to cool the surface of the silos and prevent further fires or damage to the stored grains." Additionally, he noted that "transporting grains from the affected silos is one option, but no decision has been made yet, awaiting the completion of the ongoing firefighting efforts." A representative from "S.I.C.E.A. Atlantic" mentioned that "the company aims to resume its operations in time to load ships with grains by next Wednesday, with only a small portion of the complex affected by the fire."
