South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol stated today, Thursday, that "any attempts to change the status quo in the South China Sea by force cannot be tolerated," calling for a rules-based maritime system in the region. Yoon emphasized "the necessity of establishing a rules-based maritime system in the South China Sea, which is the major maritime corridor in the region." He added, "North Korea's nuclear program poses a real threat and could target all the countries participating in the summit," noting "the significant responsibility that lies with the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council."
