After the International Taekwondo Federation opened the nomination process for technical and administrative committees for the first time, more than 480 candidates from around the world submitted their applications to fill 91 positions. Following a thorough evaluation to select chairs and members, the committees were officially announced.
In this context, Dr. Chung Won-sho, President of the International Federation, appointed Lebanese Olympic referee and international lecturer Master Daniel Khorasanjian as a member of the Competition Committee. Khorasanjian had previously served as a member of the Education Committee since 2018. The Competition Committee is chaired by Mr. Mohammed Shaaban, a member of the International Taekwondo Federation and the technical delegate for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Paris next summer.
Khorasanjian clarified that the objectives and functions of the Competition Committee include:
- Evaluating global taekwondo championships
- Organizing and managing sanctioned tournaments
- Promoting and developing taekwondo globally
He added that the responsibilities of the committee involve:
- Studying the requirements for implementing additional improvements in the organization and management of taekwondo competitions
- Ensuring the quality of global taekwondo events being promoted
- Overseeing the development of competition equipment and protocols.
In this regard, the President of the Lebanese Federation, Dr. Habib Zreika, contacted Khorasanjian to congratulate him on his new position and praised his significant efforts and sacrifices to elevate Lebanon's name on international technical, administrative, and refereeing platforms.
