Tehran Promises a Response After the Death of One of Its Advisors in the Attacks on Damascus

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the death of one of its military advisors, Milad Haidari, in the missile attack targeting Damascus today, Friday, affirming that "the crime committed by Israel will not go unanswered." Missiles reportedly targeted sites in southwestern Damascus early this Friday, causing material damage, according to the Syrian official news agency SANA, which accused Israel of the attack. This is the second Israeli strike near Damascus in less than 24 hours, as two Syrian soldiers were injured in an Israeli bombardment early Thursday near the Syrian capital. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Israeli missiles targeted military sites of the Syrian regime and Iranian-aligned forces in southwestern Damascus. The observatory added that the missiles destroyed a weapons and ammunition depot but did not report any casualties. Israel has carried out six airstrikes in Syria this month, according to the observatory. Hamid Reza Aghazadeh, a visitor at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs in Berlin, commented on these events, stating that it is "a very dangerous phase. The risks are very high, and we should expect more to happen." He added, "The risk of escalation between Iran and Israel is higher than it has been in recent months, or possibly in recent years."
