Sami Gemayel, the head of the Lebanese Forces party, emphasized the importance of distinguishing between the team that is striving to facilitate the election of a president for the republic as soon as possible in alignment with the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese people, and the team that is obstructing this process to keep Lebanon hostage and impose a candidate that serves its own interests. During his meeting with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, Gemayel stressed the need for the obstructing party to abandon its methods and proceed with electing a president according to democratic principles and the constitution.
Regarding the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Gemayel affirmed the necessity of establishing a practical plan to facilitate their return to Syria, in collaboration between the Lebanese state and the United Nations, and providing them with financial support in their home country to encourage their return.
