Title: European Union: Bloc Moves to Impose Sanctions on Niger's Regime

The European Union's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, announced on Wednesday that the EU aims to follow the lead of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) by imposing the same sanctions on the military council that seized power in Niger several weeks ago. He added to reporters after a meeting of EU defense ministers in Spain: "We will follow the same path and will try to implement the same sanctions they imposed."
