The Lebanese Basketball Federation issued the following statement today, Wednesday: "As the Lebanese Basketball Federation aimed to launch the 2023-2024 season in the most spectacular way by hosting the "Champions Cup" match between the West Asian Clubs Champion, Al-Riyadi (Beirut), and the Arab Clubs Champion, Club Beirut, on the evening of Wednesday, October 25, at the "Nihad Nwfal Complex" (Zouk Mikael), and after observing the emergence of sectarian tensions that some wished to introduce into Lebanese basketball, which has been experiencing significant successes, amidst evident sectarian and political conflicts and regional disputes, and in order to protect the game's interests and safeguard its fans from any fifth column, the Lebanese Basketball Federation has decided to postpone the "Champions Cup" match to a date to be determined later, while confirming the commencement of the "Snips Chips" First Division Championship (Men) on Thursday, October 26, according to the previously released schedule."
