The spokesman for the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, confirmed today, Sunday, that Iraqi forces will receive the first batch of Pakistani "Super Mushshak" aircraft. Rasool stated to the Iraqi News Agency, on the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the establishment of the Air Force Command in Iraq: "The missions of the Air Force are not solely combat-related, as they also have other squadrons for transport. The C130 and Antonov aircraft participated in evacuating families during liberation operations, particularly in Haditha and Al-Baghdadi, as well as delivering supplies and dropping leaflets in areas where terrorist groups were located."
He pointed out that "after 2003, there was a significant role in rebuilding the Air Force, with the introduction of F16 and Korean T50 aircraft," affirming "the ongoing updates to complete the development of the Air Force's capabilities." He elaborated that "Iraqi pilots and Air Force leadership participated in assisting other ministries during the COVID-19 pandemic, notably in transporting vaccines from China, and the Air Force provided aid to the neighboring countries of Turkey and Syria following the earthquake, in addition to its contribution to the evacuation of the Iraqi community in Sudan."
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense had published a video on April 18th of this year showing the Iraqi Air Force receiving the Pakistani aircraft.
