The Ukrainian Security Service indicated today, Friday, that it intercepted a "phone call proving that the Russian forces blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station and dam in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine." The agency published a one-and-a-half-minute audio clip of the alleged conversation on its Telegram channel, in which two men were heard discussing the implications of the disaster in Russian. One of the men, described by the Ukrainian Security Service as a Russian soldier, stated, "Ukraine did not do this; it was our sabotage group. We wanted to scare people with this dam." He added, "But things did not go according to plan, and they did more than they intended."
