Russia reported today that Ukraine has used Australian drones to attack targets on Russian territory, indicating that "Australia is increasingly involved in the conflict." Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated, "It turns out that Australian drones are indeed being used to strike targets in Russia." Zakharova accused the Australian government of "enthusiastically contributing to the anti-Russia campaign directed by Washington" while trying to conceal unfavorable conditions from public opinion that indicate Australia's growing involvement in the conflict in Ukraine. Zakharova's comments came in response to a question about a report published by the Sydney Morning Herald last week, which stated that Ukraine used Australian drones to attack an airport in the Russian city of Kursk.
