The official spokesperson for UNIFIL, Andrea Tenenti, reported that "today there was an intense exchange of fire in several areas along the Blue Line between Lebanese territory and Israel." He added, "There were shells falling on both sides of the Blue Line, and our headquarters in Naqoura was hit by a rocket; we are working to verify its source. At that time, UNIFIL peacekeepers were not in shelters, and fortunately, no one was harmed." He continued, "We are actively working with authorities on both sides of the Blue Line to deescalate the situation. However, unfortunately, despite our efforts, military escalation continues. We urge all parties involved to cease fire and allow us, as peacekeepers, to help find solutions, as no one wants to see more people injured or killed." Tenenti concluded, "We remind all parties involved that attacks against civilians or UN staff are violations of international law that may amount to war crimes."
On behalf of the Speaker of the Parliament, Nabih Berri, his media advisor Ali Hamdan made a phone call to UNIFIL Commander General Aroldo Lazzaro to inquire about the details of the shell falling in the Naqoura site and expressed Hamdan's appreciation to the general for the forces' role and efforts and for ensuring the safety of its personnel.
