Sonatrach and Aramco Lower Official Prices for Liquefied Petroleum Gas

Traders indicated that the Algerian energy company "Sonatrach" and the Saudi company "Aramco" have reduced the official selling prices for liquefied petroleum gas for July by 1-17 percent compared to June, due to weak demand and ample global supply. "Aramco" lowered the official selling price for propane in June by $50 to $400 per ton, while the price for butane decreased by $65 to $375 per ton. "Sonatrach" reduced the official selling prices for propane in July by $5 to $400 per ton and lowered the prices for butane by $70 to $335 per ton. Propane and butane are two types of liquefied petroleum gas with different boiling points. Liquefied petroleum gas is primarily used as fuel for vehicles and heating, and as a raw material for producing various other petrochemicals.
