The European Union to Discuss New Sanctions Package Against Russia Next Week

Diplomats and an EU official revealed to Reuters that "the member states of the bloc will begin discussions next week on a proposal for the twelfth sanctions package against Russia, which will focus on banning Russian diamonds." EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell told the Financial Times on Wednesday that "the bloc has received the green light from the G7 countries regarding diamonds during a meeting of the group's foreign ministers in Japan." The G7 consists of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Germany, and Italy.
