The Kuwaiti News Agency reported on Wednesday that a decree has been issued appointing Kuwaiti Oil Minister Saad Al-Barak as acting Minister of Finance, in addition to his current role, following the acceptance of the resignation of Finance Minister Manaf Al-Hajri from the position.
The decree accepting the resignation of Finance Minister Manaf Al-Hajri and another decree appointing Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil, and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Dr. Saad Al-Barak as acting Minister of Finance were announced.
Kuwaiti media indicated that Al-Hajri submitted his resignation just three months after assuming the position, without citing reasons. Al-Hajri had been appointed Minister of Finance in April as part of a cabinet reshuffle, shortly after the resignation of the government due to a dispute with the opposition-controlled parliament. He was reappointed in June after the formation of a new government following the resignation of the previous government that month, which occurred after parliamentary elections.
