Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi held an urgent meeting of the National Security Council today. Presidential spokesperson Ahmed Fahmy stated that the meeting reviewed the developments in the regional situation, particularly concerning the escalation of military action in the Gaza Strip. The following decisions were made during the meeting:
1. Continuing communications with international and regional partners to reduce escalation and halt the targeting of civilians.
2. Intensifying communications with international and regional relief organizations to facilitate the delivery of necessary assistance.
3. Emphasizing that there is no solution to the Palestinian issue except the two-state solution, while rejecting and denouncing policies of displacement or attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause at the expense of neighboring countries.
4. Highlighting Egypt’s readiness to exert any effort to achieve calm and to initiate and resume a genuine peace process.
5. Confirming that the national security of Egypt is a red line, and there will be no leniency in protecting it.
6. Inviting Egypt to host a regional and international summit to address developments and the future of the Palestinian issue.
