A Canadian Foreign Ministry official revealed today, Sunday, that the number of Canadians killed in the attack launched by Hamas on Israel early last week has risen to five, while three others remain missing. The official did not disclose the name or any details regarding the fifth confirmed death. On Saturday, the family of 22-year-old Shire George, who was missing after Hamas attacked a music festival near the residential area of Rahim last Saturday, confirmed her death on Instagram. She was the fourth Canadian-Israeli victim in the attacks. Canada, like other countries, is attempting to evacuate its citizens, permanent residents, and their families from Gaza. Approximately 300 individuals are in Gaza, and Canada is seeking to bring them to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing, which remains closed. A Canadian official told reporters in Ottawa that the government "strongly hopes" to open the Rafah crossing to facilitate evacuation operations.
