The Al-Borj team lost to Al-Wahda UAE by three goals to none in the match held at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi, in the first leg of the qualifying round for the King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs. The second leg will be played next Saturday. The Emirati team secured their lead in the first half, making it more challenging for Al-Borj in the return match.
Al-Borj struggled with the required cohesion after introducing three foreign players to their local lineup, starting them alongside goalkeeper Hadi Murtada and center-back Mohammad Al-Husseini, and they did not have enough time to achieve synergy. Consequently, they delivered a poor first half, falling behind by three goals to the stars of the Emirati team, which possesses very high-level foreign players. They played calmly in the second half, allowing Al-Borj to make some moves without creating significant danger to the Emirati goal.
The goals for Al-Wahda were scored by Alaa Aldin Zohair and Brazilians Matheus Pereira and Joao Pedro.
