Tinetti: Our Main Goal is to De-escalate the Situation to Avoid Further Conflicts

The official spokesperson for "UNIFIL," Andrea Tinetti, confirmed in a statement that "in recent days, we have opened our doors several times for civilians facing an imminent threat of violence. Specifically, yesterday, as well as in previous days, shelter was provided for civilians at one of the Ghanaian battalion's sites near Dhahiya." Tinetti added, "However, individuals may not be allowed to enter UN sites if there is no imminent threat of violence." He continued, "We remind all parties involved that attacks against civilians or UN personnel are violations of international law that could amount to war crimes." Tinetti concluded: "Our main goal is to de-escalate the situation to avoid further large-scale conflicts that would endanger more people."
