Taiwan spotted two Russian warships off its eastern coast yesterday, Tuesday, and dispatched its aircraft and ships for surveillance. The ministry stated in a statement that "the frigates headed north off Taiwan's eastern coast. They then left the area, heading southeast towards the coastal city of Su'ao, which houses a major Taiwanese naval base."
It added, "The Taiwanese military sent surveillance aircraft and ships while activating coastal missile systems," without providing further details.
The Interfax news agency reported that "a detachment of ships from the Russian Pacific Fleet entered the southern parts of the Philippine Sea to carry out tasks as part of a long-range maritime corridor."
