The head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Jaajaa, emphasized during his meeting with U.S. Ambassador Dorothy Shia in Maarab that "betting on the element of time in the presidential elections will not serve any party, particularly the obstructive team and its candidate, whose chances of election have become nonexistent. Thus, all that the game of time achieves is exacerbating the crisis and delaying the chances for reform that the Lebanese need today more than ever." He pointed out that "the time has come to act with the required boldness and to call for the parliament to convene and fulfill its constitutional duties, foremost of which is electing a president for the republic as soon as possible." In this context, Jaajaa confirmed that "the initiative now lies in the hands of the Lebanese themselves to ensure the election of a figure who is not only upright and honest but also brave enough to manage the country under these sensitive and critical circumstances, considering that the opportunity for rescue is available. The election of a president as soon as possible is the fundamental entry point for reshaping authority in accordance with the interests and priorities of the Lebanese people and pushing forward to achieve the required reforms, particularly the plan to contract with the International Monetary Fund for recovery."
